Making a new coop.
How much room for:

Brahmas?
Wyandottes?
Quail (probably Courntix)?
Silkies?

The all will have their own areas. 4 square feet for standards? how muchfor bantams and quail?

The standards that I've read are
4 sq. ft. per standard chicken
2 sq. ft. per bantam chicken
1 sq. ft. per quail

People change it based on their climate and/or how much time outside and how big an area outside they have.

Edited to add: That was ment for the chickens, quail are generally housed up off the ground and get no "ground time".

Do the quail not get ground time just because they're more wild and like to run away? If I had a little enclosed pen for them, would that me okay, or is it bad or something? I know when my brother had quail they got out a lot, but it wasn't that big of a deal, he figured out all sorts of ways to get them back in. And why are they up off the ground?

hello? I'd like to know...I want happy birds.

These are the generally suggested minimum square footage. I always do double that or even more if possible, depending on how big of a yard they have.

I do not have quail but have read up on them (some). My understanding is that many people house them on wire for ease of cleaning. I do not know if they scratch like chickens but I would think they'd be very happy in a protected coop with attached run on the ground made out of 1/2" hardware cloth instead of a cage. JMHO and as I said I do not have quail but I'm curious to hear comments from those that do since I'd like to get some one of these days myself.

True, as I said people change it per their setup/weather etc. Some people on BYC have 1.5 sq. ft. per bird whereas others prefer 10 sq. ft. It all depends on how long the birds will be staying inside and what breed they are.

From my understanding the quail are up off the ground to keep them from parasite/worm problems that can develop if they're on the ground. Most quail are more wild than most chickens.

These are some great threads here on BYC in the quail section:

This one has a lot of basic information, the first 5 pages are the most info packed:

This one has pics of quail housing, to give you a few ideas:

This one talks about why quail are put up off the ground:
