For all Polish lovers meet our 7 month old White Crested Black Polish....

Let me give you some background on why I named him that.We hatched him and some others off around 5/08 and he had a few pullets born with him.Now when I put them outside the other polish picked his top notch clean off,leaving only the black feathers in front with only just a few white ones.For reasons unknow his pullets died off,leaving just him.So when I walked by his coop everyday and he would talk to me like usual,but I never named him,and a band I use to listen too(Ugly Kid Joe)came to mind.SO that day on he has been know as Ugly Joe.

Well he might be a she,but it is also possible he might be having a slow start.I just found out I was feeding my flock wrong.Plus all my pullets I had never once tried to flog me...he-he.And all the others had pure white crests,this one dont.And for keeping his top notch clean,I have him in a pen off the ground with wood shavings as bedding.Also most of his top notch is new feathers from where the others had picked him clean on top.I had to fluff his new feathers out off their quills.

I just lost i my white top black polish roo just this last week.

I guess he just got old. I did not see any symptoms of disease.

RIP big guy.
