How old are your chickens? Mine wouldn't have anything to do with them for a long time either but once they got a good taste they became big fans of slugs. Try chopping one up and giving to them to introduce the taste. Mine have done a great job of eliminating the slugs but they also eliminated everything in my yard that was edible.
