For Silkie Experts: Is my Red Silkie male or female?

I've had this little guy for about 9 or 10 months now, and no matter how much time I spend studying pics of silkies I just can't seem to decide what it is. I would normally lean toward rooster, as it doesn't lay eggs (like the others at its age), but then it won't crow or even try to mate with the females either. (I'm no chicken expert here, so I don't know if all roos do that or not.)

We recently had to get rid of a Saipan rooster that was more aggressive and dominant, so that could be why my silkie is so laid back, if it is a roo.

I would bet a rooster. Sometimes silkies can be hard to tell. Feel of the back of his leg and see if you can feel a spear that may help.

Thanks Christina!

And I thought the same. We bought the 4 chicks from a local farmer and they were pretty much the same age. This little guy was just about a week older than the other 3, and they were 2 days old. 2 turned out to be hens and started laying around Thanksgiving, so that's why I was wondering about this one. But thanks everyone!
