Do you have a problem with Dust when you use the deep litter method?

What can be done to control dust problems? we have 4 windows open and there are also vents in the coop. but it seems really dusty in ther eand to make matters worse the birds are really flighty so they stir up dust when ever I go in there.

Thanks!
Kathy

I use deep litter, but it is dusty here. East-coasters are always appalled at the amount of dust. (my neighbor's MIL --from Wash DC--once told her she should really be dusting twice a day to keep a decent house)

So for me, I doubt there would be a difference

I'm also new to chickens and DLM. I understand if it is dusty your litter maybe to dry. To get the composting action the litter needs to be damp, like a compost pile. Hold together when you make a ball, but not drip water. I have been adding water to the litter, slowly. There is great info on here about DLM.

I haven't had a dust problem using the DLM. It does sound like your litter is too dry. Can you maybe tell us a little more about how you are managing your litter? That would help a lot.

I never thought to sprinkle it with water - Lets all Here a great big "DUHHHHHH" Now.
