For those ordering chicks

Good to know. This spring I was going to order some hens. If some showed up dead I would be very upset.

Ended up having chickens living on my screened porch for the first 5 1/2 months of their lives. Nothing like having a rooster learn to crow right under your bedroom window.

This year I'll be getting chicks the first week in May. I don't brood chicks in the house, so it's important to me that they are able to go in the coop, without a heat lamp, as quickly as possible.
