Forcing her self under other chicks

I have 3 Orpingtons and one Cochin. They are 3 weeks today. The Cochin has behavioral issues and loves to peck the others heads but then is perfectly fine with them. One thing she does is she will shove herself under or between my two black Orpingtons. Legit shove. Why does she do this. She isn’t cold it’s 85 out.

Oh it is definitely her. Is it normal for her to come after the others and peck them. Some times it’s a hard peck and she continues the attack. When she does that I remove her and isolate her.

Unless you are wanting to permanently get rid of her, maybe just watch a while. If the orpingtons are not bleeding or seriously injured, she is just telling them that she is flock queen.

Now, if the Orpingtons all gang up on her and she starts bleeding, they have rejected her from the flock and you might have to remove the Cochin. Those feather feet sometimes are the target.

She definitely told them not to mess with her. When I put her in they run to the corner. I want to keep her. ( we think it’s a her). Should I continue with the isolation after she attacks one. I’m not sure about gender for anyone but think she is female. No one will stand up to the Cochin. This is her second day with this group. She came in late.

Oh, I thought they grew up together. You might have to keep them apart where they can see each other on the otherside of the wire for a couple of weeks. Just dropping in a new bird can cause trouble even at that young of an age. Search this site for "look but no touch" and you will find a lot of good info.

Ok so basically don’t let them have any contact? They came from the same breeder so I’m not worried about Illness
