What you ALL have done is unforgivable. You are all doomed to an eternity of incubating chicks, all with feelings of guilt for anything/everything that goes wrong.
Nyurah nyahahahahahahahahah!

Kidding. I must confess even though I know I'm not supposed to touch the eggs a lot I have candled every day to every other day

I'm on day 12 and have 11 moving and veins so hopefully one will make it. I said before in a post I wouldn't assist but I've become so attached to these eggs I know I will assist. I can't sit and watch if I am able to help I will. I am worse than a new mom actually, I check the bator with the flashlight at night..... LOL what I am looking for?

I do that too! Like what are we expecting, that one super chicken is going to surprise us and come busting out of its shell like the kool-aid man on day 14???

Is the Brinsea mini advance really that foolproof? This fool would love to know.

I have the mini advance and while it is very good, they make a mini advance EX that has the humidity control. I recommend that one cuz I am always having to open the bator to add water, especially during lockdown when you DON'T want to open it. the EX version is and I quote someone here "stupid proof".

Ok, here is the "shame on you" that we are supposed to do...

Now the confession... I have done and will continue to do the same thing! I think it is a disorder and I'm pretty sure it is called OCD. LOL

The is a cure at least for me... Your spouse will likely want to kill me but I bought a 416 (capacity) incubator. Hatching that many chicks will kick the wind out of you pretty fast. Anyway, that is my advice...

Yes, it is. But Liexicof is exactly right - I ALSO bought a Mini Advance EX.... it's pricey.... but so well worth it. *ahem* So I bought a second one. I now own one Mini Advance and two Mini Advance EX 'bators. It IS "stupid proof" indeed. I got these smaller ones (they each hold 7 eggs) instead of the larger models (Octagon) because I did NOT want to go hog-wild with masses of hatching eggs.

Yes, mucho money I've spent recently. But I also quit smoking almost two months ago so I have to do something with that money and the obsessive drive which fueled THAT former addiction.

I have to agree with urbanfarmerkc. The more batches you hatch the less you want to fiddle with everything. I checked on my first batch of eggs 3-4 times a day and now I am down to only once a day. A reliable incubator helps too. When I was using my LG I was constantly worried about temp spikes and drops and humidity levels. Now that I have my King Suro I feel more relaxed and because I know that my eggs are being kept at close to optimal conditions. Hatching eggs is no joke. I become the broody hen!
