forgot to add water the first three days to my incubator Hovabator

It's heartbreaking sometimes... but it's not necessarily because they came from Ebay, either. The PO really does a number on them. Not to bash them or anything, it's just the truth. I can send eggs to the lower48, and people have good hatches... but coming up here, I think they smack them with a hockey stick the whole way. Doesn't matter where they come from, either.
If you can find them locally, that is probably the best...

And if the rest of them hatch? Then it's worth it...

I recently got a new Hova bator and when I was testing it put water in just the middle section. Humidity got to 89% and water was dripping off the windows!!! I am leaving mine dry. With no water at all I hover around 40%. I will add water toward the end.

when you say let down....do you mean because they are broken upon arrival or just won't hatch. That is my worry. They file long disclaimer reports so you have no recourse if the egg does not hatch. They could be sending you nonfertile eggs to begin with.
I won't do it again. I will keep you posted on how this comes out.

It's hit or miss when buying eggs online. Currently I have ebay eggs in the incubator. 10 out of 14 developed and I have 9 that look like they'll make it to hatch. My last batch though I had bad luck. I got 2 dozen eggs and hatched 2. I lost half within the first 4 days. 5 did absolutely nothing. Then those that made it to hatching the chicks couldn't get positioned and the 2 that survived I helped out of the eggs. I think the eggs were from too young of flock. Many were odd shaped and despite being from the same breed were about half the size of the eggs I have now.

But it also depends on how the PO handles them, and so many other variables... I've had hatches like that from people here on BYC that I trust completely, and I KNOW it's not their eggs.
