Hi everyone! I'm new here. I just called animal control and found out I can't have chickens within city limits. I know that city council voted down an ordinance to allow backyard chickens awhile ago. Is anyone working on resubmitting the issue? I'd like to be involved, if so.

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
Can you find out why they did not pass an ordinance? There are usually concerns about husbandry, odors, noises and possibly rodents. If you can address all of their concerns and back it up with support from nearby municipalities that do permit chickens, that will bolster your argument and help get a new ordinance passed. I would also recommend that you put a petition together and see how many residents you can get to sign it.
