Hello, I've been reading the forum from time to time when seeking advice and information but didn't join until today!
Me and my two roommates are raising chickens primarily for eggs, but we cycle out older hens for meat as necessary (we can't afford to keep feeding non-layers.) We're hoping to raise a few meat birds at some point, but mostly we're just eating the roosters.
Current roster:
Gladys: Red Laced Wyandotte (horrible brooder)
Betsy: White Plymouth Rock (cagey, bold, a dirty bird)
Lucille: Barred Plymouth Rock
Tweedle-Dee: Barred Plymouth Rock (feisty)
Tweedle-Dum: Barred Plymouth Rock (collectively "the tweedles")
On deck (youngin's):
Buff Orpington
Rhode Island Red } nameless until they survive childhood
Speckled Sussex
Non-Gallus:
Bourbon Red Turkey - b. 4/1/13 - d. 2013 Thanksgiving
Narragansett Turkey - b. 4/1/13 - d. 2013 Thanksgiving
