In the Brooder
Hi. My name is Carey. I’m not new to chickens. I grew up helping gather eggs as a child for my Granny. Later, as an adult, married with three kids is when my real chicken journey would begin. We started with a few chickens in our suburban backyard. After moving to the country, we would add to that number. The majority we had were barred rock and road island red. We also had ducks and guineafowl. Long story short...divorce...move back to suburbs...have my mom move in...remarry...get 3 cats, 2 dogs, and 4 chicks. The chicks are the newest edition to our family. We have a white leghorn, an ancona, and a couple orpingtons. They’re about 5 weeks old now. We’re almost finished putting up the coop and predator proofing. I don’t recall how I found out about BackyardChickens way back when...but have only recently joined. I’ve been able to glean a wealth of knowledge from BackyardChickens and look forward to learning more.
