foulish smell from broody

I hate to post this because some people will see it and start trying it way too early with the risk of ruining their hatch. I consider this method good for your situation, a desperation move just before you are ready to trash the eggs. If it were not for the smell I'd say yours were too early for this.

Take the eggs and float them in water. As long as there is no crack and they have not external pipped it will not drown the chicks. At this stage they should have lost enough moisture so they float. If the egg wiggles on its own there is a live chick in it so put it back. If the egg does not wiggle there is nothing alive in it.
hmm. sounds weird, but I couldn't notice any stench coming from the coop today. I will give a few more hours before checking. If they were alive and not pipped yet, how would putting them in water ruin the hatch?

I HAVE SUPER GOOD NEWS I WENT AWAY YESTERDAY AND COULDNT DO THE FLOAT EGG TEST BUT TODAY I WOKE UP KIND OF LATE AND DIDNT GO OUTSIDE THEN LIKE NOW I WENT OUTSIDE AND THE TWO EGGS ARE HATCHING!!!! I PICKED UP ONE EGG JUST TO SEE IT AND IM SOO GLAD I DIDNT THROW IT AWAY!!!!! BECAUSE I HEARD CHEEPING FROM THE NEST AND THE EGG I WAS HOLDING I LOOKED AT THE CORNER OF IT AND IT HAD LIKE A PIP
BUT does that mean the greenish egg was still alive? :(

I think it sounds like this is resolved, but for future readers please candle the eggs to see what is going on. It can be done with a phone flashlight. The darker it is the better your chances of seeing if veins are still presant or in the chick is still moving.
