Not idea how old they are. The girls had stopped laying for winter...or so I thought. Eat them or dump them?
Not necessarily rotten, just older and have more air inside.If they float they are rotten.
Probably most BYC members won't agree with me but I have some older eggs I won't sell to my customers so I break them open in a dish when I need some eggs and if they look and smell ok I eat them, cook or bake with them. Mother Earth News did a test several years ago about storing eggs and they had eggs that were still good after several months. I'm also curious, so I like to break them open to see how they are. I do have a fridge just to keep my eggs in.
Curious what you found using the float test on store bought eggs....and if you open any floaters to see if they were bad or not??I like the float test. I used that for years on "store bought eggs," this is why I wanted my own chickens.
