Hello,

My name is Kellee and I live on Whidbey Island. Someone abandoned 3 adult roosters on our property on Wednesday. I suspect they were left in our area as we have a lot of coyotes and someone saw it as an easy out to have their excess roosters killed by our local predators. With some patience, my husband and I were able to capture them and we currently have them set up in a stall in our barn. Unfortunately, our neighborhood CC & R's do not allow us to keep and maintain roosters. Therefore, we must find them homes ASAP. We are not looking for them to go to homes where the plan is to butcher them for meat. Our preference is for them to individually or together, join a new flock. Two of the roosters appear to be young and are likely siblings. The other rooster I suspect is much older due to the length of his spurs. All 3

appear to be eating well but beyond that, I can not tell you much about their health.
We are willing to drive them to any serious adopters that are probably within 2 hours or so of where we live.
Thank you for your consideration,
Kellee

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Aww...how nice of you to rescue them! A roosters life is rarely a good one. They are not wanted as much as the hens. :(

You might try a few things, we do have a Buy Sell and Trade section you might post in.

Also many feed stores have bulletin boards you can trade off stock from. Another place, your "County Extension" usually has connections with 4-H clubs, many times the kids love to take roosters to show in the fair.

Good luck with your boys and welcome to our group! :)

:welcome
Glad to have you join our flock! Pull up a roost! :hugs

My heart goes out to you. This is how I acquired my first roo and got back into chickens. Luckily I was able to hide....er keep mine. :D I wish you the best of luck finding good homes for these handsome fellas! And :bow to you for taking them and fostering them!
