While trying to fix up the "perfect" fresh water supply for my chickens I came across a better poultry water nipple. It is actually a little cup with a small lever that fills when the chickens drink. They are a little pricey as far as water nipples go but I think they are worth it. I have realized from watching my chickens they don't need too many per chicken. Mine all try and drink from the same one anyway. Silly birds. Here is the info. if you are interested. I guess it is ok to post this on B.Y.C.. They are available from Cornerstone Farm Ventures, Inc. they are Model 300 Cup Drinker. Cost is $2.00 each. Check it out. Thanks !

Yes, I've seen those and while they are very nice, they will not work for those of us who live in harsh winter climates. Using a submersible heater in the bucket will not prevent the water in the cups from freezing, nor will a heat tape-type wrap-around. I'll stick with my horizontal water nipples.

Understand about the freezing part. That is why I moved go S.W. Tx. and traded ice and snow for heat and humidity. Just curious? How DO you keep the water from freezing up `nauth ?

With a small stock tank submersible heater. But when using plastic buckets you have to make sure it's only 500 watts.
