Hi Lyongirl,

Nice open coop; I live in Gilbert--my coop is semi-open, well ventilated for our weather. Just curios, does your HOA allow chickens? Mine sure doesn't so I run a stealth backyard operation

. But I live across a farm with chickens so my hens blend in, noise wise.

Yeah, the area I live in is more farmlandish so the HOA says "any backyard animals are fine as long as they don't 'bother the neighbors'". That's more our reason for not having roosters..not really because they "aren't allowed" but because I'm sure they would bother the neighbors

lol.

i decided to build mine bc i though $300-500 for one was crazy. It still cost about $225 in lumber and wire to build my small coop. That is an amazing deal for that! gotta love craigslist...

Wow what an amazing find. Quite often you see things on CL that are out of price range or just not what you want. But it pays off to keep looking, you may get a gem like this!

Congrats on the find!
I also found someone near me on CL selling fresh eggs today. I have so missed fresh eggs since we had to get rid of our girls. I bought 4 dozen!

I can't wait until next summer when we will be gathering our own fresh eggs again.

Hi there, yes, I was talking about Phx but also every surrounding city, really. I've seen them for years near dusk and dawn running across the inner city streets and freeways downtown, often laying dead along it from being hit, same with raccoons. The city life is usually a pretty good life for them with all the canals and lakes with ducks and fish and other easy to take small animals and fruit. The coyotes can get aggressive towards large dogs and have lured them away to attack them. Even city yards without any animals may attract them if there's gardens or fruit trees in the yards.

It's been about a year since being in Congress. Love that area! This year when Arizona air-dropped all those thousands & thousands of oral rabies vaccine packs, were any dropped as far down as Congress?

I'd just use it as a run if I were you, unless you're going to cover up the sides with wood or something. But use it certainly... you can hold quite some chooks in there!
