found a dead hen under roost

Ok, last night we heard the chickens going crazy about 10pm, my husband went out and looked in on them and closed the coop up, this morning a dead hen, he didn't see her there last night but it was dark and she was black. I am wondering if she just died and fell off the roost would her face be pale some hours after death? It seems that when I had one die before she did still have red in her face. I am sorry I didn't look her over better before we buried her but it was only later I was thinking maybe something was in the coop and got her. Anyone have any idea what could have caused it.

I had the same thing happen. One of my favorite BO died and fell under the roost one morning just before I let them out to free range. She was still warm but was peacefully laying under the roost. I never knew what happened to her and I've never had another one die. Sorry you had to find her like that I know just how you feel.

Do you recall if your hen was real pale looking?

I've had the same thing happen to me. 2 weeks ago one was dead in the coop and this afternoon I found another dead under the roost. I have no idea what is happening.
