Found a hidden nest, how long are the eggs good?

I found a secret spot in my coop that a few of my banties have been using, don't think more than a few days as there were only 4 eggs in there and I only have 4 banties. I've also gotten banty eggs from the nest boxes, so I don't think they've been accumulating for too long. How long are eggs good when left uncollected in the coop, especially in this heat? How can I tell if they've gone bad? Anyone have any ideas?

Give them a sniff

I've read that as long as the bloom stays on eggs do not need refrigeration for a month. Never tried it myself, but haven't had to go with out power either.

You could place them in water to see if they float?? Or sink?

I was going to suggest the float test. If they sink, they're fine. If they float, toss em.

That's what we were thinking, that they should be fine. We are going to do the float test before we eat them, though, and also crack them into a bowl by themselves before throwing them in the skillet. Thanks for the input!
