Found a injured dove in my yard today! What should i do? BAD NEWS

Today i saw the dove acting close to normal and trying to fly around in the cage. I put the dove in my hand and gave him a chance to fly away. He did, although he was flying very low. The bad news is a hawk swooped down as soon as he left my hands. I couldnt see anything that happened because there was something blocking my view. I think that the dove may have made it to some huge probably 10 foot tall very thick bushes before the hawk got him but i cant be sure. By the time i got to where i could see i couldnt find the dove or the hawk. I hope he made it...

You did what you could and gave it a chance - that's the best you could do

I had a pigeon that I found that was sitting in the middle of a busy road - it couldn't fly. I brought it home and it took about 6-7 weeks and it's wing healed. I found I had to let it fly a bit in my house so it was strong enough to fly before I could release it.

My kids loved the experience - and it taught them a great lesson about kindness and respect for nature.

I hope it made it to the bushes ! In my mind, it did.

Thanks. I hoped it made it also. That may have been what was wrong with the dove in the first place. A hawk may have attacked it.
