Yesterday was my Dad’s birthday. He went with me to feed the animals before bed, and the girls had a couple surprises. First, I found a tiny egg. It’s maybe an inch and a half long (I have tiny hands!). I believe it’s from one of my Barred Rocks who’s been laying an egg every other day but made an exception for my dad’s birthday. It was pretty funny! Then, I noticed two beautiful blue eggs from my Lavender Ameraucana pullets. They’ve never laid before, so it was very cool that my dad’s favorite chickens started laying on his birthday.
I cracked the tiny egg open today, figuring there would be a piece of tissue or something gross inside. It was a perfect tiny version of a normal egg.
Here it is with the normal egg she laid today.
