Found a young chicken! Roo?

Sitting on my front porch and enjoying the evening when all of a sudden the dogs went nutso and started running at the fence! I heard the typical squawk of a frightened chicken and I was off to the rescue! Looks like a young black Australorp. Pinkish, grey on the bottom of the feet. I think its a cockerel though. Am I right or wrong?

I believe it's a hen. The tail feathers and body shape looks like a hen to me. It's hard to say it's to roo.
