Found abandoned duckling! Need advice please!

I think it would be great if you got her in water deep enough for her to float freely and take a video focusing on her legs and feet. it might tell you if her legs are weak and functioning normaly or not
And the warm water will be soothing amd exercise wont hurt
I wouldn't put her in water until she can balance herself. She's just going to fall over.

iam sure their not going to launch her in the water from 10 feet and watch as she drowns

Ive had leg issues and balacing and stargazing ducklings do perfect in water

I didn't say that, doug.

I said I wouldn't put the duckling into water just yet. OP says the duckling can barely hold her head up. Duckling needs to be able to hold her head up before putting into water deep enough where 'she can float' otherwise she's going to fall over into the water.

Regarding the Gatorade, there have been many times that I have used it full strength to get chicks, ducklings, and other fowl hydrated, so I think it's okay to use it. Even one of my vet books mentions it.

If it were my duckling I would put it in an incubator or brooder at 85-90 degrees and get it warm. How much does this duckling weigh?

Definitely better than giving her nothing.

How long would you give gaterade?

its probably a mallard, its mabye 3 days old but hard to tell from the photo

it will need warmth from a lamp or a heatpad wrapped in a towell, around 90 degrees
it will need good food

be carefull with the syringe because they can inhale water very easily, That could kill it

The best thing for it would be chick starter crumbles or duckling starter crumbles

This morning if your heading out to get some supplies and she needs food right away mash dry cat food or dog food into a wet soupy porridge in a small dish and leave fresh water too. it will be good for her but she still needs duckling food

Do you have ducks already? if you doo mash their food up for her

Shes very cute, Good work saving her!
She passed away
