Hi all! My lovey ladies have been laying for almost 2 years now and all is peachy! But today I found an egg in their hen house under where they roost at night and not in the nesting boxes (which were clean and not full of eggs). They have never laid an egg in any other places than their nesting boxes.

What does this mean? And should I be worried that this will become a habit?
thanks for any advice!!!

I've found eggs in unexpected places like that. Sometimes if they can't get to the box of their choice they'll try and "hold it" and the effort of jumping onto the roost pops it out. I also had a hen that was "eggcontinent" - her sphincter was faulty and she would just drop them wherever.
Oh my goodness! Ha! @“Eggcontinent” but that’s crazy, I’ve never heard of that, but it makes sense.
Thank you so much for replying!! to lend credence to your idea that she just couldn’t hold it, I have one chicken who regularly lays two eggs in one day!
Thanks again!!!!
