found at the dollar store

colored wire ties! I went to all my hardware stores and the only thing they had was the clear and the black so my last hatch I had to use combination of colors/legs etc. I was in the dollar store and found a pack of 100, 26 medium and the rest are the small ones I used for chicks. They come in lime green, electric blue, hot pink and neon orange. Since I am hatching black/blue ameraucana eggs from 3 sources and have more ameraucana chicks coming from Paul Smith I was going crazy trying to figure out how to tag all of them. Now I just hope they don't pick at them

Thank you sooooo much for posting this. I've been looking for colored ties all over the place. I just never thought to go to the dollar store.

I don't know which dollar store you have but I found it at dollar tree....

You can also find the color ties at any computer store and office supplies. If you go to Walmart or Target they may have them in the electrical section.

I've found so many things at the Dollar tree really good one here and I even put together their medical kit from there

Are you talking about "twisties" as we call them...or the plastic zip ties?

I tried the small zip ties, but they seemed a bit bulky...and finding them in various color in the smallest size was a challenge.

I ordered some leg bands off Ebay that are elastic and you get a bunch of colors in the bag.

the tiny zip ties, that is why I was so excited cuz I couldn't find them that small in any other color but black or clear.
Have you had any get the bands off? I am going to use these because I already have them but might need something different in the future. I don't like the ties if I get too busy, don't want them to get too tight....elastic sounds good as long as they can't get them off.

Wouldn't the tiny zip ties get tightened even more if the end was pulled on? Sounds like a great idea but wouldn't want to risk injuring a leg.

Walmart also has a large 'bottle' of zip ties, all sizes, in 4 or 5 different colors (including black and white). It is in the automotive section
