Found Chick, unknown breed/gender

Hi all,

This chick was found by a Good Samaritan and brought into an animal hospital after being cornered by a cat. No one claimed the baby so I said I’d take it. Have no idea what it is. Any ideas? Breed? Gender? (I know it’s young but it look kinda roo ish to me). Also any tips for raising a lone chick? I’ve never done that before and my normally broody mamma that would adopt anything is currently not broody (of course). It seems much happier since I added a stuffed bear, hanging feather duster type thing, and a mirror into its cage. It sleeps with all three practically all day.

Well yay! And shoot! I don’t think I can have a second roo! Any idea on age? Or if it is a bantie or standard?

Does look like a White Crested Blue Polish cockerel to me too. Too bad it's not a pullet but man I wish I could randomly find cool chickens.

@danceswithronin I know! I'm almost 50 years old and I have yet to find a stray chicken of any kind. I have had random cows, and two big old hogs show up in my yard though

Well, we named him Ed and will find a good home for the kiddo. Anyone in northern CA want a white crested blue polish ???? Haha. He’s quite the character. Wish I could keep him. I just don’t have the set up for two roosters.... thanks for all the input folks.
