Found egg without a hard shell on the ground 3 times?

You do not have an undernourished hen. You don't yet even have a hen! She is considered a POL pullet. She may or may not need extra calcium. Pullets that are just coming into lay will drop a few odd balls until their reproductive systems mature.
Don't worry too much about it. Once her system works out the kinks, she should start laying beautiful eggs.
When shell-less eggs happen in an actual hen, then you have a bigger issue.

LOL, good catch! :thumbsup I don't think most of us even noticed the OP mentioning how young they were! I know I went back and looked the first post over again after reading your post, and you are 100% correct, LOL! We were all just reading "hen" and "shell-less eggs" and sliding right over the other details. :th

That sounds reasonable and rings true also @DobieLover !
Only thing is that I have gathered as many as 8 eggs in one day. Could it be that the girl has actually dropped a normal egg once?
Last week there was an egg in the nesting box which was like a Guinea egg. Smallest egg I ever saw. Thanks for the reply @DobieLover !

I bake my egg shells in the oven and I crush them up. It's a way to use up every part of the egg the chickens lay. I just place all the crushed up shells in a mason jar and give them a little each day.

I had eggs like this last week and giving extra calcium worked.

Other things you can give that have calcium... Plain yogurt, cottage cheese, and plain tums
Great idea @chkva ! My wife has been saving the shells for her compost, so there are some I can repo and crush. Thanks! @Hen-Ry

The small egg was a fart or fairy egg. Another "normal" egg for a POL pullet.
Yes, they can lay a normal egg and another soft or shell-less egg. Then go back to laying normal shelled eggs again. Give it time.

Knowledge is a by-product of experience! I can tell you have a trove of both @DobieLover ! I feel better about the whole matter based on your conclusion ! A fart? lol!:yuckyuck:thumbsup

I would still offer OS and/or rinsed, dried and crushed egg shell on the side. The extra calcium also helps the pullets to pass soft or shell-less eggs.
I feed 18-20% protein crumble, either chick starter or Flock Raiser as part of my feed and offer one 7# hanging feeder filled with OS and one filled with granite grit. For me, the supplemental calcium is a requirement because the higher levels required for laying hens is not in their main feed.

I have 8 hens a'laying for bout 6 weeks now. They were born on Oct 23, 2018. Just over 6 months now. On three occasions, including Monday, I have found eggs in the outdoor run, in the coop run, and in the nesting box which were only encased with a skin. No hard shell. Two were burst, and one was intact. Any ideas about what causes this? Do I have an undernourished hen? Sick hen?

I have a bottle of tums in the cupboard. Wish I knew which one it is! Thanks!:thumbsup
I would just add oyster shell free choice and see if that makes a difference. Your pullet is still just coming into lay. Save the TUMS for a later date (if the soft shell/shell less eggs continue).

It's just as well @Wyorp Rock, the Tums I have are more sugar than calcium. Going for the OS! Thanks for your reply!:old

Oh, I adore getting those little "rooster eggs," LOL! They're so cute! Sometimes smaller than my Coturnix quail eggs, and sometimes they have a teensy little yolk in them, too! :love Yep, they're also known as rooster eggs, too. :lau
