Hi I’m new to having chickens and seems that one of the hens laid their first egg. Small brown egg with soft shell. Found it under their roost on the coop. Will this be the start of egg laying consistently or is this a premature thing and most likely won’t keep happening day to day? Reason I ask is I haven’t opened them up to their nesting boxes yet. If so should I open the nesting boxes?

I would open up the nesting boxes. The first eggs any of them lay may be a bit weird and there may be a lot of irregularity in size and schedule; don't worry, it just takes a while for the egg-laying mechanisms to get working properly.
14 weeks is very early! A fast developer to be sure!

Thanks. I actually just went back out to open the nesting boxes and found another egg on the ground in the corner. Hard shell and very small. I put a couple golf balls in the boxes.
