I have one guinea that has an impacted crop and so had her in an isolated pen in their coop as we are about to have the impacted crop surgically emptied. I went to tend to her and suddenly found one of my healthy guineas just like this. No signs of injury, neck was intact, no signs of illness, just flat like this. It had only been 2 hours from when I had seen them all just fine. I have not yet been able to tell if it is a male or female. I know our males are a bit aggressive right now. They are all 9 months old, but no signs of a fight. It's legs are laying flat out like maybe collapsed? Nostrils, rear end, all looked perfectly fine. This is just so sad and I wish I knew what caused it.

I’m so sorry. It will be tough to tell what happened without a necropsy. Many state veterinary diagnostic labs are performing free necropsies right now in exchange for Avian flu testing, though my last Guinea that died didn’t qualify (it wasn’t on their list of poultry species!)

I just found 2 eggs in their coop so wonder if she might have been eggbound. I did not check for that before we buried her.
