Family member found a hatching baby chick where mama hen had been killed. Baby chick is the incubator with appropriate temp and humidity but the navel is a big concern atm. Unsure how long it's been trying to hatch or the conditions it's been subjected to. Any advice?

No blood and nothing poking out, looks nice and clean so I wouldn't worry about that. The little stringy but will shrivel up and fall off soon enough. So long as the chick is active and fluffing up you are on the right track.

Thank you much for your advise. I eventually had to separate the chick from the egg leaving enough for the stringy thing to fall off naturally. Chick it doing well.
