My flock recently got mites (well, what I think are mites anyway) and I've been treating them (first with sevin dust, then with DE, and most recently with Cow Calf dust which the local farm store recommended when I said the others weren't working) for quite awhile now. I dusted them thoroughly with the cow calf dust and have been checking them every day and it seems like all the mites are dead though there are still clusters of eggs around all of the hens' vents. One has been hit really hard by this mite situation, Minnie Pearl my 1-yr old SLW. Shes been lethargic and not flying up to roost at night, but HAS been eating and drinking up until this morning. At night I always set her up in the her box -as I hear mites come out at night on the floor of the coop (which has been treated by the way) and she usually jumps down by herself just fine. This morning I came out to find her face down on the floor of the coop, half covered with bedding and assumed she was dead. When I came toward her to pick her up one of my other hens walked over her and Minnie's legs moved so I scooped her up to find that she was alive I tried to set her down but shes not able to stand or even sit really. She sort of falls down/lays. I got some tweezers and cleared all the bedding and crap out of her beak/nostrils and have set her down away from the rest of the flock in some clover in the backyard. Is there anything I can do at this point? I can post pictures if need be. Thanks.
