Been thinking my 5 girls were just molting, been getting a occasional egg or two for the last week or so, and the girls do look rather shabby, but today, when I gave them their afternoon treat, one of the Sandies was missing, and heaven forbid if she should miss out on her bread and yogurt. Anyway I found her in the back of the coop, just laying there so I opened it up to check on her, and she just scooted out the pop-door. I found 9 eggs where she had been laying. I took them in, no broody behavior or growling at me. I would have let her try but my roo seems to have a fertility problem. None of my eggs have that "bulls eye" indicating fertility. Felt kinda sad for her, but on the other hand it is nice to have eggs again. Told her she can try again in the spring, when the new roos will be attending to matters.
