Found mallard duckling

Please do not release this duckling!
It looks to be a wild Mallard duckling. Other adult ducks will kill it.

Your Province has VERY limited places that are allowed tot ake wild migratory birds and rehab, treat and release.

Things to keep in mind while he is under your care...

Do not allow him water he can not stand in as ducklings can drown.
make sure he has a shallow dish with water to drink and is kept warm and quiet.
Stress can kill a duckling.

if you do not have non medicated duck chow then you can offer crushed dry cat food, cornmeal , chopped up meal worms or earth worms .

Please try not to handle him anymore than possible . Limiting human contact will help him be able to be retuned to the wild when he is old enough to be released.
