So for a few weeks now every so often i would find cracked half eaten duck eggs. Coming home yesterday I finally saw the culprits . Crows! I dont have netting over my run yet and they were walking around in the duck pen inspecting the outside nesting box.

trying to decide if I should just leave them be until I net it over anyways or try and run them off.

Some people may disagree with me on this one... I have and always will view crows as an agricultural pest all around! I have had them eat eggs and even had young chicks taken years ago! Once they learn of an easy meal, they only become more bold. I find that buckshot is cheaper than the netting you describe and probably helps the area native bird populations too! You may want to check local game laws for season dates. They are a federally protected bird because they are migratory. On your own land in most states, you do not need a permit to pursue them. It won't take killing many before they all avoid your place like the plague!! You may have to shoot at them once in a great while to assure the message is clear! Just my two cents!

Yep crows like eggs and they have been known for taking young chicks along with pecking the eyes out of chicks. Seems as if its not one thing its another after the eggs or chicks
