Okay so I have "too many chickens". I'm a first time chicken keeper, and I have made a lot of mistakes!!! So right now I have 4 male leghorns, 3 female leghorns, and 3 female red stars. I got a straight run of leggies (it was less than a buck a bird, I can't pass up a deal like that!!!! Ha) and then about a month and a half later I got the stars, because we are mainly wanting the eggs.....

So my roos started to, well, be roos, and as I was promised, I very quickly realized that I had to do something different. I am new at all of this, and I just wasn't ready to put the roos on the dinner table..... So how happy was I when I found an old coop and run on the property we just got!!!!! And all I had to do was to put some wire over a busted out window, and I put my roosters in it last night!!!! Went to check on them this morning, and they're just as happy as can be!!!!! I'm so glad I could have this solution! IMG_20180705_084527941.jpg

So you just stumbled upon this perfectly good coop? So cool. Time to buy a lottery ticket.
Haha, yeah, it's family land, we just bought 40 acres of it, and so there's old trailers, lots of "junk", and yep, a random coop with 6 nesting boxes, a ladder, stairs, and big run, all completely enclosed. AND I found extra chicken wire in the carport next to the house we're currently renovating to be able to live in, so I got to use that instead of the stuff we just bought. I also think I saw about 3 more rolls of wire in the rafters, so as long as I can outlast the hornets who are currently laying claim to it, I should have PLENTY of wire to make the perfect run for my 6 ladies as well!!!!!

Ah, good to know! I'll definitely keep an eye on it! The coop I found is reinforced with barbed wire, which is nice except when I forget about it haha!
