Found Rooster

I never thought of a harness I can’t figure how it would work, but it would be funny walking around with a rooster on a leash. He seems to enjoy hanging out with the cats and our elderly blind dog. But he does like to follow me around. We have almost 5 acres but he does wander off the property.
It won't be hard to make one. I think a saddle for hens can be modified for a harness. A zip lock bag of treats and a cool pleasant day he might be the talk of the town. Once upon a time a family took their pet Emu on a harness to town for a parade and he stole the show.

Hello. You are my weekly hero. Thank you for rescuing Frankie. You won't find anyone here (I think) that will tell you any of those bad things to do with Frankie. We are bird lovers. Roosters are so cool. I don't think most people realize how cool they are...I believe they have more depth and emotion than hens - more like a dog. I have 3-roosters in my flocks. I am a little different about food than some people here - I feed my birds a lot of "people food", just not things that can hurt them. I don't consider the "people food" treats because I am balancing the nutrition for the birds. Meaning, one day I may give them watermelon mid-day and in the evening, peas and meat. The next, day I may do yogurt (with strawberries - no tops), and then corn and meat. Of course, they eat their feed everyday also. If you can get your rooster a few female friends, he will be happier. You can get on Nextdoor and find out if there are others with chickens, and when you travel, they can chicken sit for you.

Yes, since you are going to keep him, even just two hens would be good company. Three can be kept more easily than one. The little bit more you would spend on food will be amply repaid in eggs and their well-being. And if the hens are older than he is, it really really will help him to learn manners and respect from them! If you don't want more chickens, just be sure to eat all of the delicious eggs.

Please post some pictures of Frankie so we can see how old he might be.
Even just one hen would be fine. Another option would be to find a second rooster that is in need of rehoming.
