I was getting ready to make our weekly frittata tonight and cracked an egg from a hen who has only been laying regularly for about a month. It looked like a very tiny cluster of grayish green grapes. I am assuming that it is a cluster of oocytes from the ovary that somehow piggybacked onto a mature egg and made it into the shell. Can anyone confirm this or tell me what it really is if I'm wrong? Just FYI, the actual cluster is only 1/4th of an inch long.

Looks like a group of oocytes to me. Now I'm interested to see if she continues laying....depends on if it's the whole ovary or just part.

Dunno what oocytes are, but it looks like at least part of her egg cluster. Those little clobs apear to be eggs befor they break off and develope. Probably just a fluke......Pop
