Found the chink in my armor!

While I walked back to the house to fill the birds small feeder to take out to them while they enjoyed a nice day out.The $%#$@34%%Z#@@#$^^$@ dogs found the one and only place that was weak in my fence to the run and got in killing all 23 of my birds! I'm more Pi**ed than upset at this point. All the work to get them to 5 weeks without killing them myself and then the bullet proofing on the run only to find I missed a spot and now this. Well, at least I won't be driving you guys nuts for a while at least until I can find some replacement chicks! Why didn't I get that incubator and start some eggs a few weeks ago like I wanted to? GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
FIRST STOP TSC FOR THE HOT WIRE CHARGER!!!!
At least this will give me more time to RE-secure the run and get that coop roof rebuilt better! (properly) Lot's of lessons learned today in a very short span of time! I'd say a prayer for the doggies with full bellies... Not sure they're gonna make it through the night at this point (yes, they will I'm too big a softie, they were just being their usual farm doggie selves) I am more mad at me then them!

Thanks Susan! I'm just wondering IF I'll be able to get back in the game for this year! This late in the year and the heat we are having here in Texas... I dunno if I can find anyone to ship this late or not.....HHHHMMMMMMM Road trip to Cameron???? A visit in person to Ideal just might be in order here! It is only about 1.5 - 2 hours from here. HHHHHHMMMMMMMMM

Not peafowl Dixygirl but my brown egg assortment from Ideal that would have been 5 weeks old TOMORROW! I just went out and cleaned up the carnage. I couldn't help but think that for egg layers those Bloody dogs sure did eat well today! Some of the birds were well developed and could have been rather tasty on the grill with some fresh Rosemary and lemon wedges! Gads now I feel EVIL! But there was always that possibility, but I never got to enjoy their eggs first! Son of a buck-toothed monkey!

It sounds awful! I hope you're able to get the run secured... maybe if you check craigslist in your area or ebay local you could find some chicks or pullets to replace them... So sorry!

I'm so sorry about your chicks. It definitely is a good lesson for the rest of us. Get that electric fence and then I think a road trip is in order!!!!
