The other day one of my very young Welsummer pullets (14 weeks) started singing the egg song, but no eggs. Today I heard her again from inside the house so I ran out to the coop...only to discover THIS:

That's right...look at that gorgeous huge blue sparkly egg!!

The top two on the left are from my lovely Golden Comet sisters, who reliably lay a perfect brown egg every day...but wait a minute you say.....Wellsummers don't lay blue eggs..................

Hahaha what a sneaky chickie!!!

:lau:gig:lau:gig:lau

Haha...I just can't help but wonder what was going through her little chickie brain!

Did she see the eggs floating up there and think, "Oh gosh, that must have come out of me! Better pop that baby into the nesting box?" :gig

Or did she see all the praise her big cousins are getting for their beautiful brown eggs, and hatch (hehe) a plan to trick me into thinking she was laying too, complete with her own fake egg song?!

Or is she just desperate to be a Mama and is going around collecting all the orphan babies she can find to love and nurture them on her own? :love

I just don't know but I can not stop laughing!!

:lau You should paint them a sign that says, "You're the reason we can't have nice things, or flowers."
Thanks :) I make all my own signs and chicken art for the coop. I think the chickies appreciate my work....but maybe some of the symbolism has been lost in them, as was the case of my egg chandelier. :barnie
