Those .22LR shot rounds are useless past about 10 feet. Get a paintball gun or just use real ammo. Deter them all you can, but the dogs won't stop coming to your yard until you do something decisive.

Yes, you should protect the entire outside of your coop and run with electric, since you have it now.

This hoop coop has some good wiring; although, around here I'm going to put a third wire at around 2-3 feet high, since there have been black bear sightings not terribly far away.
