Person sound as if he/she expects the world to revert to the 1700's in mere moments. I love the way he/she makes it sound so simple to incubate eggs! I haven't had the joys of sorrows of hatching yet, but hey according to this person I can apparently easily enjoy a hatch rate of 60 + % using a box and a light bulb (IF ONLY IT WERE THAT EASY!). I think I will be buying a Brinsea or if I am really (X10) lucky an R-com 20

Well with lot of time and a good thermostat(the main part) ......yes it can be easy to make a incubator to get a 60% hatch rate on chicken rates, i have seen them made of alot of materal , fish tanks, wood boxes , coolers, and yes a cardboard box.

All will need to watch for thing like room temp. and etc.


With a good thermostat.......its not really that hard to make one to get a 60% hatch rate.

So are those "light bulbs" solar powered? Another one of those survivalist tracts...problem being, if the bottom drops out and society collapses, there's always gonna be somebody with more/bigger guns to take your chickens...and your well-trained children too.

I was really wondering where the electricity was coming from and what about controlling humidity? I also think ten is just a little young to be "self sufficient and able to provide for themselves". I agree with the quotes.
