Found this bird in our back garden..

I was wondering if that's what silver penciling would look like at this age. I've never had a penciled, and really don't see many pics of them here as they're just not that common. But I have to say that was my first thought. Truthfully, it's probably a mixed breed, but it does look female. Try to find her owner first, then if you decide to keep her get her some company. She could eat starter or grower at this point, and fresh water.
I have some silver pencilled birds, but they do not look like this exactly. It actually looks more like my Silver Pencilled Rock x Black Easter Egger...

Here is a 4 week old Pencilled Rock. The camera was washing out the pigment in their legs. They are yellow.

Here is a male. You can kind of see the yellow here in the legs. This is why I hate using flash..

Any idea what breeds, sexes or ages these are?? The quality of the photos aren't great as it was raining on my lens.

Chantelle1992 welcome to BYC, I'm new to BYC too but your little stray chick looks like a girl and is a cross to me. If you look at my post (#12) the last picture they are identical! My girl is a light sussex cross but have her up for any ideas like breed or age. She also is a pet (I have hand reared her because she has twisted legs and curled toes and was born like this so she's on her own but your lucky your one is walking! She will come out with more colour on her chest as she gets older i would guess she's around 6wks??

You need to feed her chick crumb until she's around 6/7wks but seeing as you don't know what age she is if you ask the feed store they will tell you every thing you need to know. Also if you don't have other chicks get one or two chicks her age and size as friends for her.

People on BYC have found all manner of animals in their yard or area from chickens to Emus to Peacocks - I haven't found anything. Nuts !!

That's NOT a silver penciled dott at all. And there are some really NONE breed acceptable wyandottes that are SL-check out your local hatcheries! They can have the wrong comb and leg color-and the hatchery will still call them a wyandotte. Check out the breed pages as it grows and see what looks the closest.

It doesn't have a single feature of a Wyandotte. I am not sure where you came to this conclusion.

I did not say it was a SP at all, just that it looks more like it's pencilled than it is laced.

My conclusion is that it is mixed.

What makes you think it is a Wyandotte of any kind?

It looks alot like birds people in other locations are getting this season from hatchery SL stock: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/762939/i-bought-slw-but-what-did-i-get/20

...otherwise-no, I wouldn't normally say it was a dott at all, I'd go with mixed also.

Wow those are terrible quality! My goodness. What is that hatchery doing?

I agree the feather colour does look similar, but that's where it ends.

At least they have one quality of the Wyandotte.. the leg colour.
