Hi, a Wyandotte hen found it's way to our backyard in North Asheville. We've checked with our chicken keeping neighbors and have posted on Nextdoor but no luck finding the owner.

We are not equipped to keep this beautiful bird and need help with what to do next. We have a temporary enclosure set up to keep her somewhat contained, but it's not dry and won't really protect her from predators.

Please, all help is appreciated.

Thank you,
Margret

She's a hen.

Go back to the link of the NC Thread, and at the bottom of the page there should be a box to reply
https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/north-carolina.91762/page-4254
That should have a pink L next to the box.
Do you have any chicken feed for her? They sell small bags at most feed stores and TSC’s nowadays. Provide water of course. If you have a wire dog crate that you can set in the grass, she can peck around in there during the day.

Thank you. I can't seem to get to the North Carolina section except for that specific thread you linked.

We just found her family so it's a happy ending!
Glad you found her family, it was very nice of you to keep her contained.

She's a lovely hen, I'm sure her family was glad to get her back.
