We are officially starting construction today! Please solve a marital debate for us...what kind of a foundation would be best in our situation? Our coop will be approx. 12x12, and we have rock hard soil with lots of Caliche in it. DH thinks that because of this, putting the coop up on a bunch of cinder blocks will be sufficient. Is he right, or should we do more of a slab foundation kind of thing?

C'mon experts, help a lady out!

Haven't built a coop in a long time, but have worked with caliche.

As long as it hasn't been dug into, it's as stable as concrete.
If it has been dug into, just wet the area down good and tamp it down.
