Four eggs! [with pictures]

I have to admit-I LOVE to candle. So exciting to watch them develop.
I have to be careful or I'd candle every day!

I set two batches of eggs in two different incubators - one was set at 11pm last Thursday and the other at 6am Friday morning. I had to turn some eggs so I candled Saturday night for the heck of it and already head some veining going on. Checked again last night and can clearly tell that we have 9 developing. Some are growing faster than others, so don't stress if you see it in one and not the other quite yet.

Check out the sticky thread in this section. It has some great pics on what you should see on what days. Good luck!

I'll try and not candle today. We'll see how that goes...

Awesome. Yeah, I'm trying to be patient in watching the progress of each egg. Keep telling myself that I still have to wait quite a few more days before I can likely see anything in the one egg, if at all. And yep, I saw that sticky thread with the candling pictures. So cool.

I figured out who laid which egg. The quiet hen laid #1 and #3, and Yappy laid #2 and #4. Yesterday the quiet hen laid a soft shell egg, and today Yappy laid another good egg. I'm tempted to add the newest one to the incubator, but I promised myself to stop at four...

If it helps in making that decision I think most would agree that would be a bad idea. When you have to up the humidity for the other eggs it may be too much too soon for the last egg. If it was only a day's difference it would be one thing, but if it's been 4-5 days since you set these it may not work out well.

@ orionburn: Ah. Well I'm going to try it anyway... so hard to resist. (Yes, I'm bad...

Eggs 4 and 5 have been placed closer to the heat so that they are relatively close to the others in development come lockdown. So far all looks good for eggs 2, 3, 4, and 5 - I can see dark areas where the embryos are, and I see veins all over.

Still can't see in #1. Sniffed it, and there's no hint of stink.

I'll see about posting more recent candling pictures tonight or tomorrow.
