We (My husband, son and I) just got our first four chickens from Atwoods today! They join our family, along with Doc, our pygmy goat, Clark, our Beagle, and our cat, Turanga. I don't know what they are-- breed that is, I know they are all pullets, but I have one white blond one, a golden colored one, and two dark chicks. One of the last two isn't so perky, but our other three are all eating and drinking water. I am new to chicken keeping, but I have all ready found a wealth of information here! Hello!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Good luck with your new chicks!

Does the little one eat or drink at all? You might try putting a little sugar in his water to give him energy. Sometimes you can tempt him to eat with a hard boiled finely mashed egg yolk, moistened a bit with plain yogurt. If you can get Polyvisol infant drops from Walmart or other pharmacy - give 2 drops 3 times a day. If he will eat it on his food - do that otherwise put a couple drops just inside his mouth, so he can spit it out if he doesn't want to swallow.

He may need to be separated from the others if they pile up on him to sleep or knock him around - it is very exhausting to a chick and slows recovery.

She drank a little water. I'm keeping eyes on her.
