Fowl cholera and rabbits

Hi! This is my first post. This is a chicken question, but first some background info. :) My children have 2 rabbits, both which have the bunny "snuffles" or pastuerella bacteria which also causes fowl cholera. I just spent $140 at vet on one of the bunnies. (Will spend no more.) He is on antibiotics, but from what i understand, will not necessarily "cure" it. I have moved them to the other end of the yard from our chickens. (Maybe 70 feet separated by bushes.) We have about 30 chicks that are almost 4 weeks old and 4 chickens that about 3 months old. Now I'm worried about even having the rabbits at all! At some point, I wanted to let the chickens out to free range, which means they may would get close to the rabbits' pen. It seems easy to just get rid of the rabbits, which i may have to do, but they are my children's pets! :( I'm not really sure how this germ works, I read that it is in 90% of cats' mouths and 50% of dogs' mouths! Any ideas or suggestions? I am really distressed bc I love my chickens, but hate to get rid of my children's pets at the same time! Thank you!

I have a small fence I could put around the rabbit cage...maybe that would keep them from getting near rabbits? I just don't know how contagious this stuff is..from what i read, chickens can get it from rabbits. I'm just distressed about this!
