Fowl feathers look dull looks like my other roosters starting to get it too please help🙏🙏🙏

I don’t know how too 🥹
At night when they are on the roost go out there with a flashlight and part the feathers on the neck. Look quickly and see if you see little bugs moving fast. Also look in the feathers around the vent. You can also take a white napkin or paper towel and rub it along the bottom side of their roost. If it comes off red, you are smooshing mites. I will have to get help from one of the Educators here for more information, stand by while I ask.

@Eggcessive, please help us out here, I can never remember how many eggs lice and mites have, and how to treat them.

What feed are they on? First of all, go out and look for the presence of lice or mites moving on their skin, or the eggs. Lice eggs are white to gray clumps at the base of feathers. Mites eggs are brown specks on the skin. Some mites (common roost mite) only come on them in the dark at night, so check then as well. Permethrin or Prozac dust found in feed stores, can be used on the skin, applied inside a sock once and at 7-10 day intervals to treat either. The coop should also be treated after removing bedding, with permethrin spray. This is not needed if you don’t see mites or lice. Here are some pictures of what to look for:

But it can help with the lice or mites it may have , and they’re all above a year 1y,6 months more or less

Yeah I just read that too so I’m actually otw to go buy more protein for them any recommendations?
Yeah I’m in Texas and it’s been cold lately 40f and under usually stays on 30s lowest 10 ish , it’s happening to most of my fowl I’m still gonna try and give them medicine just I case it’s not molt…
Pictures of the whole birds?

Are they housed separately or together?

What medicine are you going to give them?

Extra Protein is not going to fix damaged feathers, but it may help overall health if their diet is lacking. What do you feed?

Do you have hens too or just the roosters? If you are feeding just the roosters, give them an All Flock/Flock Raiser Feed that is around 18-20% protein. "Feather Fixer" is just a slightly higher protein laying feed (usually 17-18 compared to 16 - it's all in the marketing!), roosters don't need that extra calcium.

Damaged feathers will not be replaced until birds go through a molt. Depending on age, that may be this fall.
