Fowl Pox! How to quarantine?

So I took my chicken to the vet today to get her seen about a large spreading bump on her eye, and the vet said it was fowl pox! I searched all of my other chickens when I got home and I think there are four in total with it. There is one with a large bump on her comb, one with a scrape on the bottom corner of her beak, and one with a slightly inflamed bump on her comb but I can't be too careful. However, I only have two dog cages! The vet sent me home with an information packet on fowl pox which says it is transferred through mosquitoes. I was wondering if I could put two birds in each pen on my porch which has three fans to keep off gnats and a citronella sprayer that keeps away mosquitoes. The packet also says its transferred through scabs, so I was thinking that along with the fans and citronella, I spray out their cages multiple times a day. Do you think this will work??

Chickens don’t get attacked by mosquitoes, so you don’t need citronella. Just keep them far away from the flock and continue their normal routine, as to not stress them out more.

Mosquitoes normally only suck blood from mammals, and chickens don’t have diseases spread to them by mosquitoes or even feel if a mosquito did bite them for some reason. Citronella isn’t the best thing for them to breath in either.

I'm sorry, but fowl box is transferred almost exclusively by mosquitoes. Mosquitoes bite their combs, wattles, and feet because they are filled with blood as well

Oh yuck. Mosquitoes don’t typically drink blood from birds though, as it doesn’t have the nutrients they need.

Fowl pox is most definitely spread by mosquitoes. Do your best to reduce the mosquito population in your area. Drain any standing water, keep grass short, and it might help to screen in the ventilation on your coop. I think a fan on your infected birds is a good potential solution to keep mosquitoes at bay. There are also vaccines available at your local farm supply stores to help protect your flock.

True, but that doesnt mean they won't. If a mamma mosquitoe is hungry, she'll eat what she can find.

Once a mosquito drank out of my cup of tea. Those things aren’t the brightest.
