My Pekin hen has chicks that are three weeks old and the mother hen seems to have developed dry fowl pox within the last couple of days. It hasn't become major yet and her and the chicks are still free ranging in the yard and acting as normal. So far it is just a few little black dots on the mother hen's wattles and comb.

Is there anything i can do to stop the chicks from getting it? Should i separate them completely immediately? I want to lessen the chance it will spread to the whole flock as well.

Thanks.

Where are you located? Can you share pictures?
QLD, Australia

The picture's a bit bad and you can only see 1 spot. But she has 4 spots total, all the same small size. 2 on her comb and 2 on her wattles.

She's separated from the chicks now but theyre still in the same room and we let them be together for a bit each day to keep their bond.

Better pics would be helpful. It could be that she has some peck marks, but not fowl pox. Those usually are jet black from dried blood. Pox can begin as flesh color or tan, and then turn tan or browner. Pox is very serious with young chicks affecting their eyes causing swollen lesions and many cannot see food to get to it. Here is what pox looks like:

it started with one mark a few days ago and has gone to several. would that be like peck marks. I think the spots on her wattles are more flesh colour while the comb ones are black
I'll try get some better photos.

Here's some better pictures. From those articles it seems my hen might just have very mild symptoms so far.
